Do you want to get stuck into some real greenfield work? Having just launched their MVP and with two further big releases planned for November and June there is lots to work on with this client. The best thing? This is all driven by customer demand, so completely sustainable.
The client
Rapidly growing and having recently hit 140 people, this Data Privacy Enterprise Software company was founded in London and has presence around the world. They aim to build software to enable the safe and ethical use of valuable data for both analytics and machine learning. Working with a variety of large organisations around the world, in sectors as varied as financial services, pharma and telecommunications, they enable these businesses to get the most out of their data without compromising on privacy or security. How does their platform work? Most insights that are valuable to organisations stem from analysing sensitive data. This company’s product enables analysts and data scientists to find, understand and share useful datasets. By maximising the utility of the data and expanding its safe access, organisations can improve insights to prevent money laundering, improve sales and enhance research models through data sharing and enable cloud migration technologies. What does the engineering culture look like? The technology team as a whole numbers around 45, based mainly in London though with a small presence in Israel. These are split into several smaller teams, each numbering between 5 and 6. In each there’s generally a Tech Lead, a Frontend Engineer and 3-4 Java Engineers. Together they’re building a modern data provisioning platform, which is deployed by their enterprise customers in managed environments. They’re looking for you to help design and develop solutions to customer problems, give feedback in code reviews and estimate work with your team. There’s a huge amount of work around data consumption, so if you’ve helped build these types of products before you’ll fit in perfectly. No problem if not though – they’re confident a talented engineer could get up to speed in no time. The role
What does the stack look like? It’s Java based, with Spring Boot their go to framework. Naturally, they work in an Agile manner so they’d love someone who’s got active experience of participating in team ceremonies, including backlog refinement and spring planning. Ideally, you’ll also have built complex distributed systems (using microservices architectures). They’ve recently introduced both GraphQL and GraphDB to their stack, so previous experience of interacting with each from a Java standpoint would be the icing on the cake. They work on AWS, so it would be great if you’ve deployed here before. There’s also a little work with Kubernetes but they’re happy to get you up to speed if you’ve not done so before. The candidate
What’s in it for me? They’re offering a salary of up to £100K, as well as 30 days holiday (plus bank holidays). They’ve also recently introduced the freedom to work from anywhere in the world for a month, as well as matching pension contributions up to 5% and giving stock options within the company. They’ve a flexible working culture and would be looking for people to pop into the office once or twice a week ideally, though can flex on this for the right person. They also offer 20 weeks full pay maternity, and 12 weeks full pay paternity. On top of the above there’s your more standard benefits, such as a laptop, phone and equipment, sickness, critical illness, worldwide travel and life insurance, a bike to work scheme and regular socials.
