The client

This is an opportunity to work with one of the top FTSE 100 companies which reaches millions of consumers all over the UK. They have core products that are live right now not to mention more in the pipeline. Innovation and consumer reach are significant factors as to what these guys are all about!

Specifically, this company provides data and personalised financial services. They have an ambitious team lead by a very creative and characterful Experience Director, who all want to build a better future, by turning their knowledge and understanding of information into value for their customers.

They’re looking for people who really understand customers, and the best creative thinkers, to create products that will transform the lives of millions of people.

The role

You will have the chance to join a team that’s open to and passionate about new ideas – they’ve come a long way but still have some exciting challenges to face, so this is a great opportunity for a forward-thinker.

They actually have a number of Product Design roles available including a Lead. Some will sit within their various product teams whilst the Lead will also be very hands-on and be the most senior within their squad – pushing back where necessary and heavily influencing the direction of the product whilst dealing with stakeholders.

The various products are all linked to consumer data and financial services but the ultimate goal is to utilise their brand and services to create an even greater awareness across a breadth of consumers, to play a significant, improved and ongoing part of peoples’ lives.

Here, you will get the chance to;

  • Understand their users and turn research into ideas that form behaviour changing features.
  • Take part in discovery, workshop and co-design sessions with customers and colleagues.
  • Do lots of sketching (out ideas).
  • Illustrate design ideas with storyboards, process flows, and sitemaps.
  • Research and validating designs with users in mind.
  • Think conceptually, as well as obsessing over the detail.
  • Create branded experiences – that deliver on brand values.
  • Work closely with engineers as they build and release.

The candidate

The experience you will need will depend on the level of role you’re aiming for (don’t forget, they have multiple, from mid-senior/senior to lead).

But generally speaking, you will need…

  • Significant experience as designer delivering amazing digital products (with senior experience leading on UX strategy – for the lead).
  • A drive to keep up with the emerging digital trends and culture, and engaging with the wider digital creative community.
  • Confidence in communicating, defending, and building consensus around UX architecture.
  • Solid understanding of user-centred design methods across the full UX lifecycle
  • Experience in diagramming, design and prototyping tools such as Sketch or Figma, Axure and Invision.
