Senior User Researcher (with quant focus)

This really well regarded agency are looking for a Senior User Researcher to join their team alongside other UX Designers and help them strengthen up on their quantitative knowledge whilst bolstering their existing qualitative skills and processes.

The client

This agency were recently voted in the Top 50 Best Places to Work, in one of the industry’s leading publications. They work with big brands and currently growing their UX team further thanks to more client-wins.

They normally bring on freelancers for the big enterprise clients, but now looking for a permanent hire who can deal with big clients and give them the confidence and vision for the project whilst working closely with the UX Director in particular.

As a business they focus on branding and innovation and big ecommerce websites.

They’re big on the emotional ties to branding as well the individual crafts that play their parts.

They do have a fast-paced environment with quick turnaround of projects. So you’ll need to be comfortable with this. In my view however, anywhere that commits to paying for a full-time Researcher, is appreciative of the proper UX processes that are needed and not just focussed on getting projects out the door – as is the perception of many agencies I’m sure.

This client have a real start-up vibe and family-feel. They also offer money towards training and run their own workshops and conferences.

The role

This person will lead their research function. Around 60% of the work will be based on quantitative research, so you will really need to be confident with this.

Building internal relationships in this role is instrumental as well as being a key point of contact for clients. So your stakeholder management skills will need to be on point too.

Work will be a mix of pitch work (25%) and project work (75%). So you’ll also need to be a confident presenter, as there is potential for you to also be involved in some pitches.

You will be proficient in Google Analytics, interpreting customer data to identify trends, friction points and potential missed revenue opportunities for our customers.

Collaborate with other UXers to drive an evidence-based design approach – running user journey mapping sessions and participating in collaborative design sessions.

Evolve customer mindsets and personas that can be used across the business to guide decisions and help people utilise research insights.

Set up A/B testing campaigns in Optimisely, VWO (or other tools).

 

The candidate

  • A design thinker and excellent problem solver who takes a well-structured approach to understanding problems and hypothesising / testing solutions.
  • Significant previous experience delivering user research across a variety of methodologies, including shaping and leading the research priorities across a product road map.
  • A strong track record of shaping and defining user experiences across eCommerce websites and mobile apps (iOS and Android) that have delivered measurable results.
  • Have worked in a fast-moving, start-up / agency environment (ideally eCommerce).
  • Experienced running a wide range of in-person and remote UX and qualitative research methods to understand customer needs (e.g. remote/in-person 121 interviews, surveys, usability testing, focus groups)
