Lead Product (UX) Designer

Software Start-up

Working with a wider design team and part of an AI-based software company. Looking for an end-to-end designer with strong user research skills in particular.

The client

This AI-based platform allows for bespoke Software and/or apps to be created and used by businesses worldwide. They are a start-up that has scaled up hugely in 5 years and offer their staff some great benefits on top of a very supportive culture and a breeding ground for innovation and tech.

They have offices in the UK, America and India. Their HQ is in London, however due to Covid, the reality is that they see everyone remaining as working remotely at least until summer 2021.

Sorry, no sponsorship is being offered at this time.

You’ll work alongside a team of 5 Mid-Senior level Product Designers whilst reporting to the Design Lead.

The role

This role will require you to understand product specifications, user psychology and drive website / app design development from scratch, with a focus on execution. You’ll own the user experience design queries for your product and establish and promote design guidelines, best practices and standards.

Looking for a full end-to-end designer but with strong user research skills as well – this is something they’re currently lacking in the team right now although the Design Lead hopes to bring on board a pure User Researcher at some point too but this is yet to get sign off. User Research experience is more important for them than visuals for this role – they have other guys who can do this, but an appreciation for visual is expected at the least.

This person will also need strong communication skills and able to push back when needed but also be pragmatic at times too. The client mentioned looking for a natural leader – able to conduct workshops and handle senior stakeholders with confidence.

You’ll also need to bed be a self-starter and able to work collaboratively in a fast-paced and innovative development environment.

The candidate

  • Any previous experience in AI and/or analytical data will be a big bonus. As will working with start-ups and speaking directly to users.
  • You’ll also need previous experience at senior-lead level as a Product Designer with excellent UX Design and User Research/Testing experience
  • Ability to use design methods for ideation and conceptualisation.
  • Confident using Figma.
  • Experience with user interface design patterns and standard UCD methodologies.
  • Strong ownership of the full product experience.
  • Experience of working with agile development teams.
  • Strong communication & presentation skills (written, oral and visual).
  • Able to start by February 2021 at the latest.
