Westminster Council are a mission-driven organisation and they’re currently driving a huge Digital and Innovation initiative - they’re now looking for an experienced Content Designer to join them!
The client
They’re changing things for the better, whether that involves an improved focus on openness and transparency, or fixing current fragmented services to ensure a seamless experience across all channels.
They’ve just hired a Head of Product who comes with extensive experience within Gov. so it’s a particularly exciting time to join and really put your mark on things. They’re at the beginning of their journey, designing from the ground up and looking at what problems really need solving.
The role
As their Senior Content Designer, you’d be an integral part of a team who’s mission is genuinely to put residents first. You’ll be helping to build and nurture a UX, Content and Interaction team and community, setting standards and role modelling.
The team currently consists of 3 UX Designers and it’s key that this person can fill in the gaps from a Content perspective. In regards to the team, you’ll be mentoring and managing them whilst also identifying how they can work more efficiently and progressively.
Your role will include, but not be limited to:
- Being responsible for the career development of the team
- Creating and iterating content for the council’s most vulnerable residents, to meet policy intent from discovery to production
- Designing and building an appropriate user experience architecture for the organisation
- Taking charge of the user experience, content and interaction strategy for the council to improve service delivery

The candidate
- You’ve previously held a position as a Senior Content Designer, in particular having worked in an Agile cross-functional team
- You’re a strong communicator and you’re easily able to build relationships with the people you work with
- You’ve got previous experience managing/mentoring a small team
- You have previous GDS/Public sector experience

Base salary: Up to £63,000 + generous pension
WFH Policy: 1-2 days a week in their London office (most of the team do 2)
