Senior JavaScript Engineer

Based in Shoreditch, though offering the chance to work remotely 70% of the time post-Covid, this technology first company are looking for experienced JavaScript Engineers to join their expanding team.

The client

Their product allows people to unlock their family history, which has become a multi-billion high growth market. They’re building a host of new products and introducing new technology to enable people to really explore their history.

They’ve come a long way from the early days of digitising historical records to where they are now; a fast-growing, consumer subscription tech company with millions of users, and billions of online historical records.

The role

They work in cross-functional, collaborative teams that really care about the quality of their code, with an emphasis put on testing as well deploying to production multiple times a day.

Their core programming language is JavaScript with their website running React and GraphQL, while their backend platform is a collection of Node microservices running under Kubernetes. Depending on the team you join, there may be also be the chance to work with C# and Elixir. No biggy if you’ve not worked across the stack before – they’re happy to chat to people who’ve focussed solely on the frontend or vice versa. Attitude is just as important as ticking boxes here.

Day to day, you’ll be working in an autonomous, collaborative team, helping with:

  • Designing, developing and deploying user experiences with a focus on usability, high availability and scalability.
  • Building out and improving their new Node backend.
  • Taking responsibility for services that are owned by your team in a DevOps culture.
  • Innovating through the usage of A/B tests.

The candidate

It’s just a two stage interview process (with an initial welcome call from HR to take any questions you have), with no take home technical test. Offering up to £90K for the Senior but there can also be potential here for flex.
