Looking for a Lead Product Designer to join a brand new team working to create an AI chatbot experience.

The client

This role will require you in their London office 2 days a week (ideally Tuesday and Thursday).

The role

Looking for a Lead Product Designer to join a brand new team working to create an AI chatbot experience, whilst reporting to the Head of Product Design. There is a wider, mature design team in place also.

The AI chatbot experience will look to help people manage their money, meaning it needs to be able to present complex information back in a way that’s digestible and actionable for a customer.

There’s opportunity to challenge what a great chat UI interface looks like and work with their Design System Designer to create new patterns and components.

This is very much a senior IC (Individual Contributor) role, so it would not require any people management responsibilities although obviously still want a strong communicator.

Key responsibilities will also include;

Owning the product design end-to-end, including discovery, ideation, delivery and iteration.
Designing a new UI interface that can provide personalised and proactive insights and guidance for customers.
Communicating and collaborating with stakeholders of all levels of seniority

The candidate

You will need;

Extensive design experience, with a focus on creating exceptional UI from scratch. You’ll need end-to-end capability as a Lead Product Designer but this role definitely leans more towards the UI side than UX.

A portfolio which can demonstrate your true design craft without the reliance of a design system (at least in some projects). Looking for complex and innovative work rather than branding but will still want to see a good appreciation for visual design.

Experience in 0-1 products, start-ups and/or working within a very small team or even as the solo designer. You’ll need to be comfortable with ambiguity and able to adapt to changing requirements and feedback.

Experimentation and iteration. You embrace failure as an opportunity to learn and improve. You’re happy to work at rapid pace to iterate and improve experiences.

You can communicate and collaborate effectively with different audiences and levels of seniority. You can present and justify your design decisions and influence outcomes.

Any commercial experience with AI, FinTech or skunk work style projects is a big bonus, but not essential.
