Senior UX Designer

Senior UX Designer | Up to £63k | Hybrid (1 visit to the London Office)

We are looking for a Senior UX Designer for a Westminster council.

Hybrid working policy: They are looking for someone to come into the London office 1 day a week.

The role

You will be one of the first hires leading a team of 3 to enable the delivery of the council’s ambitions as they go through their digital transformation. You will have the right mindset and attitude to work effectively in the new ambitious and innovative culture across Digital and Innovation. In this role you will be collaborating, experimenting, and approaching a challenge, you will deliver impactful change and improve outcomes for our residents, businesses, visitors, and staff.

You will:

• Lead the user experience, content, and interaction design community across the organization.
• Create and enforce content and interaction standards, guidance, and style patterns for the organisation.
• Articulate the value of user experience, content, and interaction design, coaching senior leaders across the organization to understand the connection between excellent content and excellent service.
• Support members of the team to work in multidisciplinary teams, helping develop high-performing people.
• Directly lead the content, interaction, and user experience design of our most complex products and services, working in the open with the user at the centre of all you do, including working across multiple product teams concurrently.

The candidate

The role would suit someone who is already working at the senior level or someone who has previously worked and led design teams.

You’ll need:

• Knowledge of modern tools and platforms for designing and publishing content and optimizing interaction.
• Knowledge of the cross-government DDAT framework
• Experience pairing with other disciplines to create amazing user experiences in digital and non-digital service
• Desire to take an active role in the cross-government digital community
• Strong communication skills, including the ability to make languages and processes easy to understand
