Zebra People and I have worked together for the best part of a decade and the relationship I’ve had with the team has only grown stronger during that time.
When I joined PrimaryBid I had the opportunity to build a team truly from scratch, which was both exciting and daunting. In the world of rapid growth start-ups and scale-ups, talent will make or break a business so it was crucial that I had not only the right skills sets but the right people. PrimaryBid is an award winning regulated FinTech scale-up. Its mission is to build the technology, partnerships and advocacy to make fair retail investor inclusion in the public markets a reality. Historically individual investors have missed out on high profile investment opportunities such as IPOs that are offered to larger institutional players. PrimaryBid is changing that.
Zebra People were proud to partner with PrimaryBid at a pivotal time, working with the Head of Design when he first joined to begin building the team in its foundational stages. As the business grew, we became a retained partner to scale the design function across multiple disciplines including Research, Product Design, Interactive and Brand.

We began with an in-depth discussions with Rory (Head of Design), diving into granular detail of not only PrimaryBid as a business and how they operate, but their goals, his vision for the team and consulted on how we might structure a team to help achieve these goals. We then supported on creating job descriptions and branded candidate material to support our candidate attraction. For each role, we conducted a targeted head-hunt to find not only skill matches, but cultural fit candidates who were up for the challenge of a rapidly growing, ever changing and sometimes ambiguous start-up environment.

Over the course of 18 Months we engaged on three hiring phases which grew the team from 0 to 12, including three management level hires and spanning five independent skill sets (Research, Product Design, Interaction, Motion Graphics and Brand Design). The team and business continue to grow and we look forward to continuing our partnership and supporting PrimaryBid on their journey.
