As the Founding Product Designer, you'll help define not only the products themselves but also the company's design culture, processes and standards. We're looking for an ambitious, AI-native designer with exceptional taste, strong systems thinking and a passion for turning complex ideas into beautifully simple, high-quality products.

The client

We’re partnering with a well-funded, early-stage payments technology startup that’s redefining the future of payments through AI, connected hardware and beautifully designed digital experiences.

With a small, ambitious team, significant seed funding and a growing base of live customers, they’re now looking for their first dedicated Product Designer. Working directly with the founders and engineering team, you’ll shape everything from native apps and merchant software to customer journeys and physical payment experiences.

This is a rare opportunity to join at the beginning of the journey, taking ownership of design from day one and helping define the products, experiences and design culture of a fast-growing technology business.

The role

As the company’s first Product Designer, you’ll own the end-to-end design process across a range of digital and physical products. You’ll work closely with the founders and engineers to take ideas from early concepts through to polished, production-ready experiences used by real customers.

This isn’t a traditional Product Design role. You’ll be expected to think beyond interfaces, using AI to explore ideas, prototype quickly and help bring products to life.

You’ll be involved in:

Leading product design from discovery through to delivery and launch

Taking products from 0–1, turning ambiguous ideas into intuitive, high-quality experiences

Designing across native mobile apps, merchant software, customer journeys and payment hardware

Collaborating closely with founders and engineers to shape product direction and prioritise opportunities

Using AI tools throughout your design process to explore, prototype and iterate rapidly

Creating simple, elegant user experiences with exceptional attention to detail and visual craft

Contributing to product strategy through research, experimentation and customer feedback

Helping establish design principles, systems and ways of working as the company’s first designer

The candidate

We’re looking for an ambitious Product Designer who combines exceptional visual craft with strong product thinking and enjoys building as much as designing. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in ambiguity, embraces new technologies and is excited by the opportunity to shape products from the very beginning.

Essential experience

Around 2–5 years’ commercial experience in Product Design or a related discipline

An outstanding portfolio demonstrating both strategic product thinking and exceptional visual design

Experience taking products from 0–1, from early concepts through to launch

A genuinely AI-native approach to design, prototyping and creative problem-solving

Technical curiosity, with the ability to understand basic code and collaborate confidently with engineers

Strong systems thinking and the ability to simplify complex problems

Experience working closely with cross-functional teams in fast-paced environments

An experimental mindset, with evidence of exploring ideas through prototypes, side projects or self-initiated work

Desirable

Experience designing native mobile applications and responsive digital products

Exposure to fintech, payments, SaaS or other technology-led products

Experience working in an early-stage startup or scale-up

Knowledge of design systems and scalable product design

A background in Product Design, Industrial Design or another technical creative discipline

Interview process

Introductory call

Design interview and portfolio review

Final stage with the founders

If you’re passionate about creating exceptional products, love experimenting with AI and want the opportunity to shape the design function of a fast-growing technology company from the ground up, we’d love to hear from you.

Combining AI, software and connected hardware, they're creating a seamless way for people to pay, identify themselves and interact with merchants. With a growing customer base and ambitious plans, it's an exciting opportunity to join as the first Product hire and help shape the future of the business.

The client

We’re partnering with a well-funded, early-stage payments technology startup that’s reimagining how people pay through AI, biometrics and connected hardware.

Having already secured significant investment and launched with real customers, they’re now looking for their first dedicated Product hire. You’ll work directly with the founders and engineering team to shape products spanning native mobile apps, merchant software, payment hardware and self-service kiosks.

This is an opportunity for someone who combines strong product thinking with genuine technical ability and enjoys taking products from ambiguous ideas through to launch. If you thrive in fast-moving environments, love building with AI and want the ownership that comes with joining at an early stage, this is a chance to make a real impact from day one.

Hybrid working, with the team based near Tower Bridge and typically in the office around four days per week.

The role

As the company’s first dedicated Product hire, you’ll work directly with the founders to define, build and launch products across software, hardware and AI-powered experiences.

This isn’t a traditional Product Manager role. You’ll combine product thinking with technical execution, taking ideas from ambiguous problems through to working products that reach real customers.

You’ll be involved in:

Owning the product roadmap, balancing customer needs, commercial priorities and technical considerations

Taking products from 0–1, leading discovery, prototyping, validation and launch

Working closely with founders, engineers and customers to shape product direction

Using AI tools to prototype, build and iterate on new features and internal tools

Collaborating with engineers on APIs, system architecture, integrations and technical trade-offs

Writing clear product requirements, user stories and acceptance criteria to enable fast, high-quality delivery

Managing priorities and driving delivery from concept through to launch

Working with external partners, including payment providers and hardware vendors, to deliver seamless integrations

Continuously learning from customer feedback, usage data and experimentation to improve the product and prioritise what to build next

The candidate

We’re looking for an ambitious Technical Product Manager who enjoys building as much as defining what should be built. This role is ideal for someone at an early stage in their Product career who is technically fluent, AI-native and excited by the opportunity to take on genuine ownership within a fast-moving startup.

Essential experience:

Around 2–5 years’ experience in Product Management, Product Ownership or Software Engineering

Ideally started your career as a Full Stack Engineer before moving into Product, or have strong hands-on technical experience

Experience building and launching products from 0–1 in a startup or fast-paced environment

Strong technical understanding, including Python, SQL and JavaScript

Confident working with APIs, databases, integrations and system architecture

Experience using AI tools to prototype, build, iterate and ship products

Strong product judgement, with the ability to balance customer needs, commercial priorities and technical constraints

Comfortable working directly with founders, engineers and customers

A proactive, hands-on mindset with a desire to take ownership and solve ambiguous problems

Desirable:

Experience within payments, fintech, SaaS or other technology-led businesses

Experience working across software and hardware products

Knowledge of payment systems, merchant platforms or physical devices

Side projects, GitHub repositories or other examples of products you’ve built outside of work

Experience in an early-stage startup or founding team environment

Interview process

Introductory call

Technical and product interview with the founders

Final stage focused on product thinking, technical capability and cultural fit

If you’re excited by the opportunity to build products from the ground up, work directly with founders and help shape the future of a fast-growing technology business, we’d love to hear from you.

Lead Product Design role, with a bank who are redefining what it feels like to work in finance.

The client

This challenger bank has become one of the UK’s most loved places to work. They’ve been able to to carve out a reputable name within the market and have redefined what it feels like to work in finance. They strive for innovation and aim to provide the most honest and beneficial financial products in the market, with customers truly at the heart of their decision making.

The role would require you into a London office twice a week.

Sponsorship or more flexible working is NOT being offered.

The role

This is a hands-on, lead role which would also require some management (2-3 other designers), although there is a Head of Design there also.

Prior banking or fintech experience is a bonus but not essential. B2C experience and working as part of an embedded (in-house) team, is essential!

The bank is actively embedding AI into design workflows – including building internal tools to handle repetitive tasks like reviewing component-level work for design system alignment and accessibility compliance.

You’ll report to the Head of Design whilst part of an established design team (approx 20 designers).

The candidate

Previously held a Lead Product Design position within a B2C (in-house) environment.

Must have experience line managing other designers.

Must also have recent experience working as part of an embedded team i.e. in-house (again, with a B2C brand/product).

Strong native mobile app experience – evidenced in portfolio.

Comfortable in fast-paced, agile environments with hands-on delivery.

Familiarity with AI-enabled design processes.

Strong portfolio demonstrating high quality UI/visual craft as well as UX process.

If this sounds like you, then please apply ASAP with your CV & PORTFOLIO to stand the best chance of getting an interview!
