Based in the heart of Brighton, this company focuses upon location intelligence and is part of a broader global information company, that consists of 11 different brands. Although being part of the wider group, the company is treated (and feels) very much like a start-up where they hold a big emphasis upon culture and learning.

The client

They are the UK authority on environmental risks and help both individuals and companies to make fully informed decisions on property transactions, by partnering with companies such as Ordance Survey, the Environment Agency and JBA. They’re number 1 in a very niche market.

All you need to get started is strong experience in Ruby.

The role

The main focus of work will be on a platform that they’ve recently developed, which is for their subscribers. It shares with them reports, data and much more to allow them to make informed decisions on in relation to location intelligence. The bulk of your work will be done in Ruby on Rails though they also worked with React on the front end (no sweat if you’ve not got experience with this, they’re happy to help you get up to speed).

The candidate

Full tech stack and a few of the things you could pick up on the job include:

  • OOP JavaScript (ES6), HTML5 & CSS3 (SASS primarily).
  • Sinatra, as well as Node on the backend.
  • Big fans of TDD.
  • AWS, REST API’s.
  • Some Python development, though nothing too heavy (they’re happy for you to pick this up there).
