Tech Company Seeks Design Researcher to Help Empower the Use of Ethical Data through Emerging Technology

The client

A technology company, specialising in ethical and practical uses of data are on the lookout for a User Researcher with an interest in data, AI , IoT and Policy to join their expanding team.

My client specialises in emerging technology whose on a mission to make ethical data more commercially viable. Working on an array of exciting up and coming technologies and projects from AI, IoT to smart cities. Really exciting company to work for, looking to grow to 30 people this year having been around for the last 3.5 years and profit making from day 1.

The role

Working in an emerging field they look at how to create prototypes and services that use technology in ways that are in service to people, not solely profit. They work with a variety of businesses, including public sector, charities and large companies.

As a company they work in an R&D style environment, with this role being a combination of research, coding and consultancy (with an emphasis on the latter).

Working within multi discipline teams,  mix of Creative Technologists, User Research, Designers, Service Designers, Delivery Managers, very collaborative environment. Responsible for 1 other User Research. You will be responsible for mentoring and potentially line managing one other junior to mid User Researcher.

Typical project could be providing research on to emerging technology around how data flows to then create a new Eco system around this. Research will be prototyped and potentially built into solution or simply to affect future product strategy or service blue prints.

The candidate

As Design Researcher you will be responsible for helping provide research be it interviews, desktop research, ethnography research around the best way to implement this. Any knowledge or experience working within Policy Research will be extremely useful but not essential as they’re happy to teach you, extremely important you have an interest in Open Data and emerging technologies.
