Founded by three television personalities, this online community revolves around automobiles and allows users to join open groups of enthusiasts with similar interests.

The client

They’re looking to bring on two more Scala Developers to help them develop a modern architecture and platform. You’ll be joining a small but agile dev team, currently numbering four (two frontend devs, the Head of and another backend).

They’re on track to break even by the end of the year and offer a great environment for people who love technical work – no red tape or too much process. They pride themselves on providing a top work/life balance so they’re 100% remote, there is no overtime and they offer flexible hours.  

The role

They use the FP side of Scala with a dose of type-level trickery, using the reader monad for dependency injection and derive semilattices for reducing streams. They also use Shapeless to scrap boilerplate and Typeclasses over subtyping most of the time. As such they’re looking for a pragmatic engineer who strives to rapidly developer and deliver scalable and fault-tolerant distributed systems.

They’re looking for three key skills:

·         Experience developing large systems using FP Scala.

·         Experience developing reactive stream-based systems on top of Apache Kafka.

·         Some DevOps experience – they use Terraform, Ansible and CircleCI.

As well as the above they’d like someone who has a solid understanding of pull requests, code reviews, CI/CD and modern software development lifecycles.
