Senior PHP Developer

Digital Agency

Based in Gateshead, a digital agency we are working with are on the lookout for a Senior PHP Developer to join them.

The client

It’s important to emphasise in these times that they are financially secure, so there isn’t anything to fret about on that front. They’re a very close knit team of 10, including back end devs, front end devs and designers.

You’d be working across multiple projects, primarily with Laravel, developing bespoke platforms and applications. They’re also working on a pretty interesting platform that incorporates several cutting edge features, and is currently gaining more than 8000 orders per month (and rising!).

Day to day they’d be looking for you to write clean, maintainable code, thoroughly testing it and designing and creating database schemas suitable for each project. They’d also look for you to be troubleshooting any code issues.

The role

They work with a variety of different languages and tools, so experience with any of the following would be great:

  • Laravel 6, Spark and Nova.
  • Experience with Postgres databases, MySQL.
  • Experience with Docker, Gitlab (for CI/CD and automatic deployments).
  • AWS and associated tools (think EC2, RDS, ElastiCache etc.).
  • React on the frontend.

They’ve also done some pretty interesting IoT projects so if you’ve got any experience in that field, that would be a huge bonus! The key thing for them though is finding a solid Laravel developer – they’d be happy to help you up to speed with the rest.

The candidate

They’re offering a salary of up to £45K as well as flexible working hours, an attractive pension scheme, training budgets and free onsite parking. There’s also your more standard office perks, such as free fruit, coffee and tea (and beers!) as well as some games tables for when you need a bit of down time.

We welcome those with alternative identities, backgrounds, and experiences. Our team includes parents, the self-taught, the university-educated, and people of a wide variety of nationalities, ages, and socio-economic backgrounds.

Obviously, we’re looking to ensure it’s a solid fit from both sides: we want you to step into a role you love, and we want to offer you a place you’re proud to come to every day for work.

We know that diverse teams are strong teams, and welcome those with alternative identities, backgrounds, and experiences to apply to be part of life at Zebra People. We are committed to a fair and accessible recruitment process for all candidates. We would be happy to meet any accommodation requests during the application or interview process, please just let us know.
