Senior Node Engineer

SaaS start-up

Our client is a VC-backed start-up on a mission to become the first vertically integrated florist software company.

The client

Since launching in 2016 they’ve been voted one of the top UK 100 startups two years in a row, as well as having created long lasting relationships with florists across all of the UK and New York.

They’re looking to give florists the tools to create and deliver bouquets to their communities. You’d be working on developing a tool that provides inventory management, a wholesale shop and even website builders and POS systems. It is the first vertically integrated SaaS for this area of the market, so lots for you to get stuck into!

The role

You’ll be collaborating closely with their multi-disciplinary team to deliver new features. They are looking for someone who can help define a strategy to perform code migrations, helping to set up code standards and processes and helping to mentor younger engineers – they’ve a huge show and tell culture that works really well for people wishing to kick on. They like to tackle any problems as a group, so it’s a chance to work in a close team who like to discuss any problems they encounter. You’ll also be working with the infrastructure though the bulk of your work will be on the backend.

The candidate

You’ll predominantly be working with Node, so ideally you’ll have significant experience working with the framework. They’re also big fans of TypeScript but it’s not essential you’ve worked with this before, so long as there is a willingness to do so going forward. They work on AWS so experience on the platform would be a boon.

They work with React on the frontend so if you’ve any experience here that would be a huge bonus. They’re open to you working completely on the frontend or transitioning to full stack in the medium term, so it’s a great opportunity if you do want to pick up new skills.

These guys are very early on in the development of their product so there is a real opportunity for you to have input into how things are developed. They’re offering a salary of up to £85K (though have said they’ll go higher for the ideal person) as well as share options. They’re in the process of securing a new office in Central London (and moving to a hybrid model of 2/3 days a week there from the new year) and you’ll be joining a hungry, innovative team. You’ll also get a MacBook Pro and they’ve got lots of ideas for more perks in the future.

We welcome those with alternative identities, backgrounds, and experiences. Our team includes parents, the self-taught, the university-educated, and people of a wide variety of nationalities, ages, and socio-economic backgrounds.

Obviously, we’re looking to ensure it’s a solid fit from both sides: we want you to step into a role you love, and we want to offer you a place you’re proud to come to every day for work.

We know that diverse teams are strong teams, and welcome those with alternative identities, backgrounds, and experiences to apply to be part of life at Zebra People. We are committed to a fair and accessible recruitment process for all candidates. We would be happy to meet any accommodation requests during the application or interview process, please just let us know.
