Senior Frontend Developer


If you’re a Lead Frontend Developer, or Senior Frontend Developer looking to make the step into more of a Lead role, working on some meaty product work and lots of data visualisation using a fresh and up to date tech stack, this one is for you!

The client

The company are a highly innovative and very successful fintech business providing intuitive, user-friendly risk analytics and reporting solutions to some major global clients.

Their HQ is based in Aldgate and they currently have around 100 employees. The company is a subsidiary to a larger group, however, is treated as an individual start-up, in that they’re fast-moving, greenfield environments characterised by the freedom to define new rules, discover new things, and iterate quickly. The benefit comes as they have the investment, existing infrastructure, broad asset base and expansive networks of a global corporation.

They are currently aiming to adopt a more squad-based style of setup and have 2 Scrum Masters at the moment.

The role

The core project you’ll get stuck into is an asset management platform, which gives their clients a clearer understanding of why their assets change over time etc. and is to do with cash flow driven investments. They have recently introduced a new stack on the frontend, including React, Typescript, Webpack, Redux, NodeJS, Enzyme.

You would be joining the project as one of the first FE developers, meaning it would involve a lot of technical and creative freedom as it is one of their lesser defined products at this stage.

A few key responsibilities would include:

  • Working on exciting greenfield ReactJS products
  • Partnering UI/UX teams to implement high quality designs into functional web apps
  • Working with back-end teams to align front-end functionality with API services
  • Experimenting with new tools, frameworks and techniques to maintain a cutting-edge approach.

The candidate

They are ideally looking for someone very personable to fit their relaxed culture, that can take the lead on major projects defining the technical environment and scoping out future potential projects.

Here are the skills that they are after:

  • Excellent HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript (ES6).
  • Experience with styled components
  • Confidence with ReactJS
  • Knowledge of Webpack, or other build tools.
  • Experience with TDD and Unit Testing (React Testing Library, Cypress)
  • Understanding of Redux or other state management tools.
  • Source control (Git / TFS)
  • Appreciation of UI/UX
