Senior JavaScript Engineer

SaaS start-up

Remote friendly, this award-winning online stock market research service are looking for a Senior JavaScript Engineer to join one of their three teams.

The client

The team you’d be joining is called the growth team and is responsible for growing their subscriber base by building innovative solutions. You’d have total ownership over their SEO/search footprint, content generation, community building and subscription conversions.

There is a wide range of projects to work on, including reengineering existing systems, optimising the web presence and several R&D based projects, such as data-driven content generation. You’d be responsible for developing and designing front end web architecture as well as getting the chance to see projects through from whiteboard to production.

The role

What will you be doing?

  • Collaborating with product owners, designers, and other developers to build solutions that will drive growth.
  • Transcending the traditional boundaries of Frontend and Backend, designing and delivering performant, maintainable, and scalable features and services.
  • Practicing data-informed product development through analytics, A/B testing, etc.
  • Implementing innovative and often first-in-market product functionality.
  • Joining in with code reviews, knowledge sharing, and mentoring.
  • Rapidly fixing bugs and solving problems for customers.

So what does the stack look like?

The stack is TypeScript through and through. In the growth team the aim is to iterate as quickly as possible, from concept to production. They empower developers to choose the appropriate technology to deliver this. You’ll be testing and shipping new features, constantly evolving the authoring experience for content creators and considering new and alternative ways (think GraphQL) to express and consume their APIs. They’d be looking for you to architect the system in a way that’s both scalable and quickly iterable. Knowledge of microservice architecture would be a bonus here! A few of the languages and tools they use include:

  • React, Node and TypeScript.
  • MySQL, PostgreSQL and MongoDB.
  • AWS, Kubernetes and Docker.

The candidate

As a company they moved 100% remote long before Covid, as they feel it allows people to work at their most productive. They’ve got a decent sized training and development budget as well as offering 25 days holiday plus your bank hols. Salary wise, they’re thinking up to £75K, though can flex if the ideal candidate came along.
