Senior JavaScript Engineer

Media Company

A global media company that is home to many iconic and recognisable brands is on the lookout for new JavaScript Engineers.

The client

With an audience of over 379 million across social media platforms and more than 1 billion viewers each month, this media giant is now looking for a number of engineers to join them, from Mid through to Senior level. You’ll be joining one of their cross-functional teams that include designers, UX engineers, and Product designers and helping to build out innovative and fully performative software, using best practice coding standards.

They’re huge fans of collaboration and like to solve problems as a team, talking through decisions and making use of whiteboard sessions. For the more senior roles, you’d also be expected to help mentor more junior members of the team, through paired programming and other means.

There’s a chance to architect software whilst they’re also looking for candidates who have a strong sense of software design, by displaying a strong understanding of algorithms and data structures.

The role

What does their stack look like?

Everything they build is in JavaScript; Node.JS/GraphQL on the backend and React/Typescript on the front. They also make use of application programming interfaces such as REST, as well as database managing systems such as Postgres, MongoDB, Elasticsearch (they’re big fans of both SQL and NoSQL databases).

They use Kubernetes and Docker for containerisation, so it would be a bonus if you’ve got any experience working in a real DevOps culture, as they’re looking to breed one here.

The candidate

What’s in it for me?

They’re offering a salary of up to £85K, as well as a pretty impressive list of benefits. These include flexibility regarding hybrid and remote working (most people like to go in twice a week, some people like to go in even more for the culture and social side, but there is no pressure to do so if that’s not for you), flexitime, private healthcare, 25 days holiday (plus bank holidays), gym memberships and a VERY generous pension scheme.

We welcome those with alternative identities, backgrounds, and experiences. Our team includes parents, the self-taught, the university-educated, and people of a wide variety of nationalities, ages, and socio-economic backgrounds.

Obviously, we’re looking to ensure it’s a solid fit from both sides: we want you to step into a role you love, and we want to offer you a place you’re proud to come to every day for work.

We know that diverse teams are strong teams, and welcome those with alternative identities, backgrounds, and experiences to apply to be part of life at Zebra People. We are committed to a fair and accessible recruitment process for all candidates. We would be happy to meet any accommodation requests during the application or interview process, please just let us know.
