Senior JavaScript Developer

E-commerce greenfield project

Our Oxford Street based client is looking for 4 JavaScript Developers to join them

The client

They’re seeking candidates who want to be part of a small team that is rethinking the future of retail while interfacing with their parent company, who have 38 brands under them.

The role

Although the parent company is established, this company works autonomously from them on what is effectively a greenfield project and have a real start-up vibe. Based where start-up and established companies meet – with deep pockets, existing infrastructure, expansive networks, preferential treatment and a freewheeling mentalities and fast moving environments – this duality gives them the ability to rapidly deploy new products into a new environment to nail market fit, before mobbing on to the broader market.

They’re looking for an engineer to help architect, build and evolve products and design systems for the Group’s new commerce platform. You’ll need to think about UI in terms of systems, reuse, flexibility and performance. The platform will have a distribution channel with tens of millions of users a year, generating over half a mil in revenue. They believe in empowering their staff to solve complex business problems by leveraging innovative technologies to reinvent retail.

The candidate

You’ll have a strong background in JavaScript. They make big use of React, Node, ES6 and GraphQL and work with modern tools such as CircleCI. Ideally you’ll have experience working across the entire stack but if not, they’ll happily get you up to speed. You’ll also be a big fan of unit and integration testing (think Jest, Mocha and Enzyme).

Most of what you’ll be doing is building and maintaining a new commerce platform, which is build atop Reaction Commerce (which is a Google Ventures backed start-up). You’ll have a strong eye for the UI of a product and will be comfortable working cross functionally with design and engineering teams to polish the product experience.

You will have the freedom and responsibility to tackle a problem as well as the ability to iterate on features having a direct impact on outcomes. You’ll really be owning what you do. They are a small team with huge ambitions.

They’re offering a salary of up to £80K though realistically can flex on this. They are also happy to discuss a remote working plan.
