React Native Developer

On a mission to help people who have been diagnosed with chronic kidney disease, this start-up are looking for their first mobile hire.

The role

You’re going to have a huge influence on how this product is built – right now, there isn’t even a repo. As you can imagine there is a ton of greenfield work to get stuck into. Working closely with the Head of Engineering (who’s ex-Trainline and is going to be very hands on with code) and their incoming Infrastructure/Backend Engineer, you’ll be owning the mobile development.

There are going to be parts you’ll need to scale quickly, and others where you’ll have to prototype. The end goal is a product that is stable and secure. As you can imagine with just three of you initially working on the product, you’ll get a huge amount of autonomy – both in terms of how you work and the tools you use. They do however like to bang their heads together when they hit problems, so collaboration is key.

What experience do I need?

Due to the nature of the build they do need someone who’s got experience of building high scale applications. You’ll have at least two years’ experience building in React Native.

You will be working on both the infrastructure and the backend, so a good solid understanding of

As they wanted a uniform language throughout they’ve settled on statically typed JavaScript for the build – Node, GraphQL, TypeScript, React, React Native etc. If you’ve experience with all of those then amazing. No problem if not though. Longer term they would be looking for you to work with all of these, though they’re happy to help you upskill if you’ve not before.

What’s in it for you?

Culture is key to these guys. You’ll be given the freedom to work remotely, flexibly, in an autonomous way. They are an early-stage start-up so there’s not a ton of benefits at the moment, though they’re offering £600PD Inside IR35 for an initial 3 months.

Not to mention the company having an incredibly diverse workforce, cross-collaboration across teams, and lastly, a deep sense of meaning and purpose behind what you do, every single day.

We welcome those with alternative identities, backgrounds, and experiences. Our team includes parents, the self-taught, the university-educated, and people of a wide variety of nationalities, ages, and socio-economic backgrounds.

Obviously, we’re looking to ensure it’s a solid fit from both sides: we want you to step into a role you love, and we want to offer you a place you’re proud to come to every day for work.

We know that diverse teams are strong teams, and welcome those with alternative identities, backgrounds, and experiences to apply to be part of life at Zebra People. We are committed to a fair and accessible recruitment process for all candidates. We would be happy to meet any accommodation requests during the application or interview process, please just let us know.
