Who will you work for?
An international, digital product design studio with offices in the UK and San Francisco that have human-centred design and best in class software development at the heart of everything they do.
Founded by a former Googler, their core belief is that technology should improve our lives, so they strive to create digital products that not only utilise the latest tech innovations but also integrate seamlessly with their users day to day lives.
They have a total headcount of approximately 220 (spread across three locations) and when complete the design function of the London studio will see you heading up a team of 5 designers (Working alongside PM, Agile/Scrum Masters and Dev’s all on-site) in lead, agile teams consisting of some of the clients team, your team and some external partners.
What will you do?
As the Design Lead you will be responsible for overseeing the end to end design of digital products and services for some of the largest brands in the world. These include Google, Activision, RBS and BBC to name just a few.
From the day you start you will work closely with the two other Design Leads (One from each studio) to help improve the working processes of the agency and keep the teams collaborating.
You will also help to hire a team of 5 designers around to then manage their career development and work output to ensure that you are delivering best in class solutions to your clients.
As Design Lead of a small team, there will still be some hands-on responsibilities but as the team grows the primary focus will be managing the team and see you more involved in strategic planning, forward thinking, and business decision making. Other responsibilities include running client pitches and meetings.

What do you need?
Aside from previous experience growing and managing teams and a background in digital product design, the key thing is attitude and mentality.
If you are a pragmatic problem solver who constantly finds themselves questioning and re-evaluating both your own and others work to ensure you are delivering the right products, to the right audiences, then you probably fit the bill.
The existing wider team is made up of a mix of backgrounds and a relatively flat structure. There are no labels of ‘UX’ or ‘UI’. Just a team of problem solvers all playing to their strengths to achieve the same goals.
