Platform Engineer

Three years into their journey, this company are looking to change the face of beauty sales through their innovative eCommerce build.

The client

They’ve achieved tremendous growth through the past few years, generating huge amount of sales by building a talented, motivated and fun team to be a part of. They’re looking to fuel their growth by bringing on a Platform Engineer.

Currently they’re in the process of building intelligent systems to track business performance and empower decisions. You’ll be helping to ensure that the platform is robust, scalable, secure and highly performant. You’ll also be on top of making sure developers can release their code in a safe and timely manner, spanning across all development teams.

The role

Ideally you’ll have previous experience with Platform and DevOps principles, though if you’re a developer looking to take their first steps into a full time Platform Engineering role, then they’d still be keen to talk.

A few of the things they’re on the lookout for include:

  • Multiple cloud platforms – though primarily AWS and GCP.
  • Exposure to modern programming languages – they do lots of work with JavaScript and Go.
  • A demonstrable understanding of PaaS/SaaS/IaaS and use cases/best practices in public cloud.
  • Understanding of operating systems, network infrastructure, NoSQL etc.
  • Proven track record in a DevOps culture.
  • Knowledge of Continuous Integration (they use CircleCI and ConcourseCI).

The candidate

Currently the whole team is remote (for obvious reasons!) though ordinarily they’re based near Sloane Square. They do offer both remote working and flexitime though, so if you’re not keen on being in the office 24/7 that’s something they’re happy with. There’s also a generous holiday allowance as well as an extensive training and education scheme (think lunch and learn, workshops, meetups etc.). Most importantly, they really give you ownership of a project. Offering up to £65K for the role, they’re keen to fly through the interview process so have stripped it down to one stage – a technical interview where they’ll look to cover everything off in an hour and a half. No tech tests to see here!
