If you’re the type of developer that values technical freedom, collaboration and working on a product which you can help shape and grow, this one might just take your fancy. It’s also a heavily backed start-up, so if that’s your thing, let me tell you a little bit more…
The company have been going for around 3 years and have a team sitting at around 15 people (4 in the tech team). They provide fully personalised health advice alongside tailor-made nutritional supplements. Partnering with some extremely prolific doctors, geneticists and biomedical scientists, they customise their supplements based on rich insights derived from a series of three tests. Based on the combined expertise of an in-house team of health professionals, their AI-powered online consultation gives you an in-depth, holistic analysis of your wellbeing, considering your diet and lifestyle alongside how you feel day to day.
Their technology joins up all these data points to fully personalise your health advice and to design supplements specifically for you.
The main project that you’ll be getting involved with would be the developing new features and functionality for their nutritional analysis engine. You will have a high degree of technical autonomy and leadership in the role and will be trusted to make decisions about how we scale our platform. The role will involve a combination of building features, but also rebuilding their existing platform into a microservice-based architecture using new technologies. With them breaking down their backend into a micro services architecture, you’ll be using a variety of languages for their backend services, predominantly developing in PHP (they use Laravel), but will also get exposure to Python and GO. They’re also currently migrating their frontend over from Angular to React, so if you’d be interested in picking up frontend frameworks too, the opportunity is there.
You’ll be working closely with their current tech and design teams, so a passion for clean code is a must for this one! You’ll also be building new features for the site, as well as upgrading all components of the ecosystem.
Their team currently consists of a lead developer, a full-stack developer, a frontend developer and a solutions architect.
Ideally, you’re comfortable taking part in every bit of the development process, from generating ideas and concepts, to building them using simple solutions to complex problems. You’ll need to be independent and well organised, enjoy taking ownership and responsibility for a project, and consistently deliver high quality work.
It would also be great if you’re excited about the idea of working at a health-tech start-up in a role where you can make a real difference!
