User Researcher

The client

3 years ago, a start up dared to ask why? Why, in today’s digital age, are we still doing things the way they’ve been done for the past century. Only 3 years and 240 people later, they’ve shown a new way.

Every once in a while a company comes up with an idea that changes things. They force others to think twice spawning many, many imitators. And millions of people look up and see what could be. Not content to rest on their laurels and after having moved into brand new offices in Shoredith with its very own Bat-cave (!), this company is looking to hire a User Researcher to keep showing us what could be.

Joining a team of 4 User Researchers and working closely with 7-9 Product Designers (UX and UI), your research will span a whole host of short/mid/long term products and services. Overtime you’ll join smaller Product “squads” but for the time being, you’ll have the chance to bounce from project to project leaving your mark on each.

It’s not all work and no play though – hosting 4 hackathons a year, various industry events, social events like game nights and bar trips to the best that Shoreditch can offer, you won’t want to go home.

The role

Projects at the moment are mostly qualitative. You will have access to vast amounts of data and you’ll regularly get in the lab and test the usability of products and services on participants. However, there will be a key emphasis on getting in front of the user. Think ethnographic research, contextual interviews, deep diary studies – your role will be to understand the user first hand using any and all research methodologies at your disposal.

There is no set way to do research here. What’s more important is to understand the brief and use the best approach.

The candidate

As the projects are Discovery in nature, it’d be great if you were great at Qualitative research. They still need someone who has experience in Quantitative research though so ideally you’ll be well-rounded with maybe a bit of emphasis on Qual.

Mobile app experience is essential – they’re a mobile only company so it’s very important you’ve done this in the past.

There’s no number on years of experience but if you really need to know, someone without about 2-3 years of experience will be in the sweet spot.

What’s on offer? 3 package options

£35,000 – £45,000 base salary

Higher base salary + lower stocks and shares + benefits

Medium base salary + medium stocks and shares + benefits

Lower base salary + higher stocks and shares + benefits
