We’re working with Waitrose who I'm sure you've heard of before! They are looking for a Head of Design to join as they are about to embark on a vast digital transformation.

The client

Waitrose are part of the John Lewis Partnership who began trading over 150 years ago in 1864. Since then they have grown into one of the UK’s most recognised and loved stores/brands. Waitrose currently have around 332 stores, however they are drastically looking to improve their digital output.

They were one of the first companies to try a new way of working where their employees owned a part of the business calling them partners. To this day they are the largest employee-owned business in the UK with over 80,000 partners across their two very well-known brands.

Recently the partnership have been on a mission to be able to reach more customers and believe their digital offering will be at the heart of this.

The role

You’ll be at the heart of their large-scale transformation with the main goal of being able to reach more customers. You’ll own the entire end-end design process and in doing so will manage a team of designers & researchers. The team is currently sitting around 26 people with plans to grow this to 35/40.

As well as leading the team on a day-day basis, you’ll also be responsible for implementing a design strategy for the business demonstrating the importance of design to senior stakeholders.

The candidate

Ideally you’ll have a proven track record of leading & scaling teams within the retail/e-commerce space and have implemented design strategy & process.

Experience in building design culture
Proven track record in managing and scaling teams
Knowledge of retail and omnichannel

What can they offer you in return?

£110,00 – £114,000 salary

25 days holiday + public & bank holidays
You can purchase up to a week of additional holiday once a year
Bonus! Varying on annual profit share (percentage of your base salary.

WFH Policy: 1 day per week in Bracknell office (some flex on this)

Interview process: 2-3 stage

1st: Initial chat with the Head of Product
2nd: 90-120min presentation
3rd: A potential chat with their Director of Online
