Frontend Developer

FinTech Start-up

A FinTech start-up is on the lookout for several Frontend Developers to join them.

The client

This company is looking to help people understand how markets work and allow you to raise your game in one go. Their application gives you the lowdown on the day’s top financial stories and how they affect you, and the wider world.

You’ll be joining an Engineering team that currently numbers 5 (plus the VP), so you will get more responsibility as well as hands-on experience of scaling a company and its product (bonus points if you’ve done this before!).

There’s a chance to architect software whilst they’re also looking for candidates who have a strong sense of software design, by displaying a strong understanding of algorithms and data structures.

The role

What does their stack look like?

You’ll get to work with a great stack: React, React Native, GraphQL, Django/Python – they don’t expect you to have experience in all of these skills, so here’s a brief overview of what they think could be a good background:

  • Be very proficient in React, with a motivation for building world-class consumer UIs
  • Excited by the idea of organising, growing, and owning a complex front-end codebase
  • Bonus points for experience with React Native, GraphQL and comfortable working on the backend as the need arises (learning performant code)
  • Working on a product/consumer-facing

The candidate

What’s in it for me?

No one wants to feel like they’ve hit a glass ceiling which is why they’re offering you the opportunity to progress as fast as you can do it and they’ll do everything they can to get you to where you want to be. They’ll even map out a plan to get you there as soon as you join!

Most of their existing team have said they’d like to go to a part-time remote model – so 2-3 days remote, 2-3 days in the office. Ideally, they’d like someone who was keen to at least join a couple of days in the office, but they’re not super strict on that.

Every company and job advert talks about how great their culture is. That’s why they think you’ll get a better steer from the type of benefits they offer. Check these out…

  • Base salary of up to £100,000
  • Generous equity
  • A founder with a track record (he sold his previous start-up for £10,000,000+ 4 years ago)
  • Awesome social events
  • 25 days holiday plus bank hols
  • Your own personal development budget
  • Discounted gym membership rates
  • Discounts a wide range of retailers, from Amazon to Tesco
  • Half price cinema tickets
  • Working with top engineers from high-calibre companies (think Amazon, Facebook)

Not to mention the company having an incredibly diverse workforce, lots of events to go to, cross-collaboration across teams, and lastly, a deep sense of meaning and purpose behind what you do, every single day.

We welcome those with alternative identities, backgrounds, and experiences. Our team includes parents, the self-taught, the university-educated, and people of a wide variety of nationalities, ages, and socio-economic backgrounds.

Obviously, we’re looking to ensure it’s a solid fit from both sides: we want you to step into a role you love, and we want to offer you a place you’re proud to come to every day for work.

We know that diverse teams are strong teams, and welcome those with alternative identities, backgrounds, and experiences to apply to be part of life at Zebra People. We are committed to a fair and accessible recruitment process for all candidates. We would be happy to meet any accommodation requests during the application or interview process, please just let us know.
