Front end Developer

Consultancy Company

Our client is looking to bring in an ambitious frontend developer to join their team and work on an ambitious project for the Department of Transport.

The client

The project is expected to last for 12 months though there is lots more in the offing, as well as a great chance to kick on and progress within the company.

They are looking for someone who is capable of coming in and working on the project on their own (with support from the devs in the Bristol office, as well as some contractors in the near future). You’ll be the first developer in their London office which means it is a real opportunity for someone to progress within the company – they are looking to expand the team rapidly 9-12 months down the line meaning you’ll be at the forefront.

The role

When it comes to skillset, they want someone who loves using JavaScript, as this will take up a lot of your day! React is used in conjunction with it on the frontend (though there is some Vanilla), along with HTML, CSS and build tools such as Gulp and Grunt. Experience setting up and using Heroku would be a bonus.

There will be the occasional piece of backend work though this will be with Node, so more JavaScript! Any experience with other backend languages would also be a huge plus.

You’ll have strong experience of collaborating in a cross-functional team with designers and researchers, as this will be a part of your everyday works. Ideally you’ll also be comfortable communicating your ideas across as they often run workshops for clients.

You’ll take a pragmatic approach to coding prototypes, and will understand on which parts of the prototype to focus. They are very much pragmatic, rather than dogmatic, in our approach, and very much outcome-driven. Often their work breaks new ground, and we innovate to achieve those outcomes.

When it comes to benefits this is a company that really looks after you. It is a real laid back environment with a good bunch of people in the office. 25 days holiday are on offer as well as a smartphone, MacBook, a cash-back healthcare scheme, bonus scheme and a personal development fund.

We welcome those with alternative identities, backgrounds, and experiences. Our team includes parents, the self-taught, the university-educated, and people of a wide variety of nationalities, ages, and socio-economic backgrounds.

Obviously, we’re looking to ensure it’s a solid fit from both sides: we want you to step into a role you love, and we want to offer you a place you’re proud to come to every day for work.

We know that diverse teams are strong teams, and welcome those with alternative identities, backgrounds, and experiences to apply to be part of life at Zebra People. We are committed to a fair and accessible recruitment process for all candidates. We would be happy to meet any accommodation requests during the application or interview process, please just let us know.
