FREELANCE BRAND DESIGNER CONTRACT
Ballpark £425/day Outside IR35
Approximately 50 working days
Fully remote (UK ideally)

This is an opportunity to do something really exciting.
Something that doesn’t come around everyday.

You’ll be taking a brand with 100’s of years of heritage and creating their very first, digital first identity.

A brand that’s valued in the £Billions.
A brand that’s nationally recognised.
A visual identity that hasn’t changed in it’s history (As far as I know).

You’ll be evolving their visual identity, digital style guide, brand guidelines and a series of visual elements and assets in order to transform how the brand is implemented across all digital touch points – taking a digital first and accessibility first approach.

This isn’t completely from scratch. They have some initial ideas on typography, colors, even some initial concepts for the direction that this could go.

But there’s a long way to go in terms of refinement, the details, and establishing what truly works from an accessibility perspective across all the different instances the brand will be used. Plenty of room for you to define the direction and evolve the vision further.

Deliverables

  1. Brand requirements
    • What exactly are the core colours? (Hex codes, RGB, CMYK). How should they be used? When should they not be used? What are the colour contrast guidelines when using it? What, if any, are the restrictions from OEAC with regards to thier signature colours?
    • Decisions on how to align their brand identity across both Product and Brand – particularly with regards to fonts and imagery.
    • Guidance on historic logo usage. This is unlikely to change much as there are restrictions and guidance in place for the existing logo, but there is room to explore when to use full colour vs monotone, and which background colours they should and shouldn’t be used on. In combination with creating a new visual iudentity for use in certain scenarios.
  2. Visual elements
    • Fonts and type settings (heading styles, body styles, etc).
    • Colours and their uses
    • Iconography
    • Imagery or illustrations
    • Data visualisation style and elements
    • Guidance on photography
    • Layout – How can layout be used to support a distinctive look and feel?
  3. Key page mockupsShowing the new style applied to a variety of page templates, and how different applications of the brand can be used to help differentiate different areas.
  4. A digital style guide
    • A style guide to capture all of the brand elements and guidance on how to use them. This should be concise and give clear information on each detail that will make up the full brand identity
    • This should ideally be a web-based style guide to allow for future evolution.
