About The Role


They’re an exciting, fast growing business with a friendly team of over 30 based in Old Street and are looking for a talented individual to join their team as the first in house QA to help them improve their quality practices within the business.


This role represents a real opportunity for someone to take the next step in their career, taking responsibility for building an automation framework from the ground up, instilling new processes and practices and leaving their own stamp on the UK’s leading online EdTech.


We are looking for a senior level QA with strong automation and good agile experience in a fast-paced environment, who could take ownership of the testing within the agile team. This role is not just about testing but driving appropriate quality into everything they do.



  • Implement and own QA at MyTutor
  • Evaluate product code according to specifications
  • Write and automate test cases for existing features and flows
  • Execute test cases (manual or automated) and analyze results
  • Keep manual and automated test cases up to date with new features
  • Report bugs and errors to development teams
  • Work with cross-functional teams to ensure quality throughout the software development lifecycle


What they’re looking for


First and foremost, you will be an experienced QA Engineer fully conversant with both automated and manual testing including the use of Selenium as a tool for creating test frameworks backed by a practical understanding of the testing pyramid and its successful use in a web-based, high-release environment.


As a key QA resource for a growing website, you’ll need to be comfortable working with Java-based test automation in Selenium and have an interest in furthering your ability to write and manage test frameworks using a range of emerging tools.


They are working towards stronger Agile practices to improve overall software quality and need you to contribute to this. You will have previously worked in a successful Agile development team and helped define user stories and acceptance criteria.


You will need to show a pragmatic, business-driven approach to quality. Where manual testing is more effective or less costly than automation, or where frameworks can be reused rather than written from scratch, they will expect you to take a route that’s right for the business overall. They are looking for someone with a passion for software quality.


  • Experience working as part of the QA within a high-paced, high-change environment.
  • Familiar with what constitutes an effective user story.
  • Comfortable working in an Agile/Scrum environment.
  • Have a truly agile approach to testing with a solid understanding of all testing principles.
  • Have to maintain good relationships with key stakeholders, who embrace challenges to their requirements and develop an understanding of the technology these relate to.
  • Contribute constructively in improving software QA practices
  • Have a good automation experience with Selenium/ Webdriver and experience of building frameworks from scratch using page object model, java and api testing framework such as REST Assured
  • Have a practical understanding of the testing pyramid and its use in the web-based environment.
