Lead Android Developer

"Stealth Mode" startup

We’ve partnered with a ‘stealth mode start-up’ that have a huge and ambitions vision to create the largest, global knowledge sharing platform across all subject matters.

The client

We are currently under a nondisclosure agreement with the organisation to not give too much away as they have yet to launch their product to the public, however, let’s see if we can get your attention anyway.

Full tech stack:

Android, Kotlin, Java, ELM, IOS, Reactive Programming, JavaScript, React, Redux, TypeScript, Flow, Node, Microservices, GraphQL, Apollo, Gatsby, Next.js, , GitLab, Circle CI, Jenkins, Webpack, Babel, Grunt, Google Cloud, AWS, Firebase, Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, HTML, CSS, SASS.

I’ll also mention that their founder is a VERY well-respected figure in the tech industry.

The role

Fitting in to the team as the tech lead on all things Android, you’ll take ownership of the full Android side of product, will project manage (no people management), have full technical freedom and drive the direction of their Android application. You’ll be inheriting an extremely well designed and architected app and then taking full control of where it goes from there.

They operate in a very trusting and open work culture, where everyone’s voice holds equal weight when it comes to company decisions.

They have a very high calibre of developers, with the current team including 4 backend, 2 frontend and 4 mobile developers (2 Android, 2 IOS).

The candidate

Here’s what they’re looking for:

  • Solid experience in Android
  • Strong experience in Kotlin/Java (most of the work will be in Kotlin)
  • A deep understanding of system design, data structures and algorithms and understand how to apply them to design pragmatic solutions.
  • Strong track record of writing clean, maintainable, scalable and tested code
  • Collaborative worker that values long term company vision, self and team growth.

Any experience with other techs listed in the full tech stack above would be a massive bonus!

We welcome those with alternative identities, backgrounds, and experiences. Our team includes parents, the self-taught, the university-educated, and people of a wide variety of nationalities, ages, and socio-economic backgrounds.

Obviously, we’re looking to ensure it’s a solid fit from both sides: we want you to step into a role you love, and we want to offer you a place you’re proud to come to every day for work.

We know that diverse teams are strong teams, and welcome those with alternative identities, backgrounds, and experiences to apply to be part of life at Zebra People. We are committed to a fair and accessible recruitment process for all candidates. We would be happy to meet any accommodation requests during the application or interview process, please just let us know.
