Being a technology business first, they take a human centered approach across the board not only where the product is concerned but how they operate and build their culture.

The role

The role of ‘Head of Design’ will see you being the most senior design head for the business. While your primary focus will be digital product design, you will also be the point of call for all things brand and marketing too, sitting at a cross junction between the product, engineering, sales and marketing teams.

On the product side, you will lead and grow a distributed team that currently consists of 6 squads but with plans to grow in the coming 12 months and beyond.

Working closely with the CPO you will help to form the product road map and take ownership of how the product is formed moving forward.

The candidate

Key responsibilities:

  • Mentor, coach and grow a distributed cross-functional team of UX Research, UX Design and Visual Design.
  • Champion design thinking across the business, not just the design team.
  • Take a ‘Hands-on’ approach where required to help the team with concept development and running design sprints.
  • Collaborate with the product, engineering, sales and marketing teams to shape the product vision for a range of consumer, advisor and internal products.
  • Shape and maintain the design system in line with the evolving brand.
  • Champion your users and take a UCD approach to validate your design decisions and product direction.
  • Represent design internally and externally by speaking, hosting and attending industry events.
