Learn how to run usability studies, out in the wild, in a single day
Are you frustrated with vague feedback from clients and managers, mostly informed by their personal tastes? Do you yearn for feedback from real users, but lack the budget to pay for full-on usability testing?
Guerrilla usability testing is an inexpensive and speedy way to put users at the centre of your design process. It can help to keep clients and colleagues focused on strategic goals over personal their colour preferences.
Guerrilla usability testing is so simple and cheap to run that during this workshop Lily will prove you to that you can design and run a usability study in a single day.
In the morning Lily will walk you through designing your study, producing your script and identifying your target participants. In the afternoon she’ll take you out into the wild to test your study on real participants, and then show you how to analyse the results.
To get the most out of the workshop we recommend that you attend in groups of three, with a website you’ve been working on and would like to test.
If you’re coming alone, we’ll team you up with two other attendees and you’ll select a website one of you has been working on to test. If you’re coming alone, please bring your own laptop.
Lily is a freelance user experience designer and user researcher, with a passion for helping clients and delivery teams build brilliant products by better understanding their users. Very intense, content rich course. The information was layered well and presented in good bite size chunks. The group was the optimum size and there was an open feel to where attendees could interject and discuss problems and solutions. I would strongly recommend this course.
The day was great fun. I learnt a lot from Eva-Lotta and was inspired; it gives you the confidence to pick up a pen and illustrate a design concept rather than just discuss the concept. I now carry a sketch book with me and have started taking sketchnotes, which is actually a very useful way of focusing the mind onto the important parts of the meeting/discussion, rather than just making linear notes. Great course.
