This start-up aim’s to change the pet food industry for the better. Helping our dogs live healthier, happier and longer lives, while leaving us humans with an experience that puts a smile on our faces.

The role

Having recently secured another round of funding they have ambitious plans to grow and feed even more hungry pets! Among a host of positions in the technology department, they are looking to add an ambitious Junior UX/UI Designer to the team who will help to improve the customer experience across their online touchpoints and affect growth through the use of good user centred design.

Reporting to the Head of Digital Product, you will join a small cross-functional team of designers and collaborate closely with the development team to continuously improve the online experience for customers.

Being an ecommerce platform, the end goal is to improve the engagement and conversion rates on the site which in turn results in greater revenue.

As part of this team, you will not only gain hands on experience working on their product and collaborating with more experienced designers, but you will also gain valuable insight to how a VC backed start-up operates and how each of their teams contribute to the operation and growth of the business including operations, marketing and “customer love” where they really get to know their customer base.

Due to a heavy emphasis on helping all of their employees develop, from day one you will receive support, mentoring and training that will allow you to further develop your skills as a designer.

They also have an awesome culture. Based in a shared working space filled with 50 other start-ups there is a lovely atmosphere and plenty of people from other teams companies to meet, learn from and share ideas with. Not to mention the team of office dogs that will join you on a daily basis!

Key responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the Product Manager and UI/UX designer to shape the design and experience of their digital products.
  • Support the team in identifying user needs to influence your design decisions.
  • Work with another UI/UX Designer and Creative Lead to ensure their tone of voice and brand is consistent across all touch points.
  • Boost the engagement and conversion rates through the use of UCD principles.

The candidate

  • Either a recent graduate or junior designer with previous experience.
  • Formal education or experience in UX/UI or graphic design.
  • You will need a portfolio of case studies that demonstrates your existing understanding of UX/UI processes and your design skills.
  • Ambitious and eager to learn.
  • Obsessed by quality and detail orientated.
  • Pro-active, entrepreneurial ‘can do’ attitude. Start-ups can change quickly and you must be prepared for this.
  • Dog lovers have a strong advantage!
