The Client

Our client revolutionised how people search their ancestry, and were the first company in the world to give access to England and Wales Birth certificates, death certificates and marriage certificates. Begun in the early 2000’s, our client now boasts billions of records and over 10 million newspaper clippings to explore, many of these exclusively found within their product.

As they pride themselves on consistently updating and adding new content they are looking for a Product designer to join their close-knit team. They place emphasis on ease of use, and clean and simple design to showcase the vast range of information and data they have available to their substantial amount of subscribers.

The Role as Product Designer

Our client is looking for an intelligent thinker, who will demonstrate original ideas to improve current products, and also conceptualise new ones across various platforms. It is an opportunity to be involved with and create a meaningful impact on user’s lives, as the information provided is incredibly personal and sentimental.

Drawing from previous UI/UX and visual design knowledge, this role will require you to create a fantastic service for users to look at and to use. Working in an agile environment and within a small, multi-disciplined team, communication and collaboration is key to deliver continuous new content for the user.

The Candidate

You will be able to understand complex design problems, and provide clear and concise solutions to the team and stakeholders. These solutions should revolve around data collected by you and your team, and as a result you will have 1-2 years of user researching experience using various methods.

You will also be a keen and communicative team member, contributing and leading meetings and workshops to gather the best ideas and solutions.

Along with these attributes, you will also possess:

  • Strong conceptual knowledge of design as a whole, shown in a detailed portfolio
  • Proactive, logical and resilient mind set
  • Desire to learn
  • Ideally an avid interest in family history and visual design
