A polyglot technologist is needed to lead the team through some of the most interactive and leading edge shows/physical installations happening currently.

The Client

They are a global experiential agency with over 20 offices worldwide and a reputation for producing award-winning work.

As a lead Creative Technologist you will be working in their experiential team deliver over 60 major campaigns and projects globally each year; these include global product launches, brand campaigns, web apps, auto shows and retail design for the likes of brands such as Land Rover, Harvey Nicks, Burberry, the NFL, Burberry and Rolls-Royce.

One of their biggest offerings and an area you will be heavily involved in is their creation of experiential events and physical space to all their clients communicate with their user group in person.  They have a creative team that conceive the ideas, a 3d team that create blueprints, production team to builds space and an interactive team to implement their bleeding edge hardware/software.  As they create the entire space, you can ensure that you’re not held back by otherwise common restrictions such as browsers, out-dated hardware etc

As well as the day to day work you can get involved in their innovation labs, an initiative to allow you to experiment and push the boundaries for future work by getting down and dirty with some R+D.

The Role as Lead Creative Technologist

As a lead Creative technologist, you will be the bridge between the various disciplines, Design, UX, Production etc and will be heavily involved with scoping and architecting solutions. You are a real polyglot of technology, able to dip in and out of languages – they are an open-source haven and harness open-source tech (Python, Cinder, Openframeworks, JavaScript, Linux OS and AWS).

Some of the things  you’ll be doing:

  • Leading a multi-disciplined team
  • Responsible for producing interactive applications that interface with a variety of inputs such as RFID readers, touchscreens, Arduinos, motion sensors
  • Responsible for costing, scoping, and architecting software
  • Uphold coding and documentation standards are met and the deployment pipeline is used continuously through development and always on deployment
  • Work closely with other teams to ensure they are informed of development progress
  • Liaise with QA, feed testing status/results back into dev production
  • Provide on­site technical leadership, coordinating the installation of software with the hardware team and debugging problems to resolve
  • Be able to dip into a plethora of coding languages to fix issues and recompile software

The Candidate

Skills and Experience

  • Proven architecture and development skills in developing software systems
  • Proven commercial experience and attitude to learning/managing different disciplines
  • Significant experience in the software industry
  • Demonstrable experience in an agency creative process and comfortable being an interface between Creative and Technical teams
  • Have practisedagile and lean project management methodologies
  • Experience with and an understanding of good design principles and ability to adhere to
  • Commercial experience with TDD and Continuous Integration & Build Management systems

You are handy with:

  • HTML/CSS, AIR/AS3/Flex, Python, C­based technologies ­ C++, C#
  • Linux/Ubuntu server administration
  • Advanced knowledge of Design Patterns
  • Advanced knowledge of OOP, MVC, SOA TCP/IP, UML
  • Unit testing / Test automation
  • Continuous integration (i.e. Jenkins)
  • Continuous deployment ( Chef / Ansible  )
  • Shell scripting
  • Unity/UnReal / VR environments
