Freelance Service Designer for Government Department

Freelance Service Designer for Government Department in South London, Zone 5 – up to £500 per day, dependent on experience

Our client is a government department based in South London, with over 2,500 employees across the UK. They are looking for a Senior/Lead level Service Designer for a 6 month contract.

You will be joining a team of Service Designers to work on really important services including anything from passport renewals to drug prevention and counter-terrorism.

User activity takes place online and offline and you will be helping to improve the end-to-end service.

One of your main responsibilities will be to better understand what the user wants and when. You will be designing maps to help visualise how services work within each of the departments. These maps will be used to identify opportunities for sharing services with other government offices and to try and spot any similarities and patterns.

It is important that you are a strategic thinker with the capability to see the bigger picture. There will be lots of sketching and prototyping to show what new services and products could look like as well.

The ideal candidate will have over 6 year’s experience working as a Service Designer. You will be working on huge projects to rethink how a whole system could be designed, so a portfolio showing any relevant projects would be beneficial.

*Please note that you must have the Right to Work in the UK for this role.
